Paola Marquez ( Colombia)

Singer and Teacher
Colombian singer born in Bogotá, Colombia. She moved to Belgium to study vocal jazz and has
since dedicated herself to exploring the sounds of folklore, jazz, and world music. Since 2001, she
has been part of various projects and ensembles, sharing the stage with outstanding musicians
and growing artistically throughout her 25 years abroad.
In 2008, with her band Maguaré, she captivated audiences across Belgium, France, the
Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Later, she launched the large-scale project
Palenque-Matongé, collaborating with renowned bassist, author, and writer Leonardo Gómez, and
the legendary Congolese guitarist Dizzy Mandjeku. Together, they explored the intersection of
Congolese and Colombian music, recording an album and touring extensively until 2019.
Following the pandemic, while some opportunities became more challenging due to global
circumstances, new artistic doors opened. She began collaborating with Tengo El Tango Trio, the
Anima Amiciproject alongside guitarist Ramsy Irani, creating beautiful compositions. Additionally,
she worked with Jonas De Rave’s OPXII ensemble and partnered with acclaimed American
guitarist Roni Ben-Hur on various musical projects.
A versatile and experienced performer, she has a broad repertoire spanning jazz and popular
music, allowing her to seamlessly integrate into diverse ensembles, from local big bands to tango
and bossa nova groups.

In PaTi-PaMi she loves combining her love for latin and Brazilian music in Robert's own compositions with her love for jazz and improvisations. It's also an opportunity to sing in her native language Spanish and express herself deeply.
